Today I want to share with you my thoughts on my new planner. I've been a Filofax user for over a year now (I used the patent pocket size in duck egg color) and although it was very nice, it was getting hard to write all my tasks and appointments on such limited space, so I decided to upgrade to a personal size.
I decided to search online for other types of six ring binders and came across this cutie. I got mine from this AliExpress seller and the transaction went very smooth. I believe it's called a Chance Book Macaron A6 planner ($17), and I decided on this beautiful pastel lilac color. There are several colors to choose from and many sellers have this binder available in larger and smaller sizes.
The planner comes in a sturdy box and has a little dust bag (which is great if you want to keep it in your handbag). It's made out of faux leather and it feels really nice and smooth! All the stitching was perfect, both inside and out. The rings are quite strong (and slightly hard to open at first) but they don't have any gaps and don't catch on the paper. It has 2 pen loops that I find too big for one pen - I can fit two of my pens in there, but I believe I won't be using it that much. The closing strap is long, which is good if you like bulky planners and the closing clasp feels nice and strong. I do believe the strap might get creases over time from being handled, and the faux leather might get some marks (from being so soft) but I'll keep you updated on that. Inside, the planner has two secretarial pockets and four smaller ones on the front.
The planner comes with it's own paper, which is a plus. However, most of it is in chinese, with occasional english words. The paper feels good quality and the design is really clean and simple, which I like!
Right on the front, there's a fly leaf, followed by three yearly calendars (2015 to 2017), with some extra space on the back of each one, to write special events for each month. It also has a foldable undated year schedule, with six months on each side. The agenda comes with undated month on two pages spreads and undated week on one page starting on mondays, with a small space for "goals of the week" right on top. Finally, it comes with some contact pages, ruled and blank note paper and a clear pvc pocket.
Although the original paper is nice, I felt the need to have a week on two pages, so I got it from another seller, along with undated monthly plan pages, to-do list, more rulled paper and a pvc ruller. These pages are more on the cream tone side and they're also slightly taller than the original paper but the difference it's not that noticeable. I'll post a setup and weekly page spread soon, so you'll get a better look at the paper.
Overall, I am really impressed with this planner!
It has great quality for being just under $20. I have to say it's not the exact same quality as a Filofax but it's equally cute and functional and will serve perfeclty for everyday planning. I'm excited to decorate it! :)
If you have any questions or recommendations regarding this, or other planners, feel free to leave a comment.
Thank you so much for reading!
